TPES’
celebration of Nutrition Month 2019 finally ended last July 31 at TPES covered
court. The monthlong celebration aimed to spread the message about the value of preparing healthy meals, the
avoidance of food wastage, and the awareness on making food safety as part of
our everyday routine.
This
year, our learners engaged in various school activities in relation to
Nutrition Month. We are lucky that Shakey’s Pizza
Parlor became one of our sponsors and gave additional activities that made our
learners enjoy their “Pizza Making” activity more.
The
winners in different contests were awarded during the closing ceremony. These
include the A-1 Child for Kindergarten; Headdress Contest for Kindergarten to Grade
Three; Slogan Contest for Grade One to Three; Poster Making Contest for Grade Four
to Six; Jingle Rap Contest for Grade Three to Six; and the Cooking
Contest and Pizza Making. The Cooking Contest remains to be our highlight
activity because the contestants were given three categories namely: Cooked
Indigenous Vegetable; Fresh indigenous and Foreign Vegetable (Salad); and One-Dish
Meal. The winning recipes in this contest also served as the dish to be added in
the menu for our School-Based Feeding Program.
Mrs. Adalia A. Gaila, Master
Teacher I and SBFP Coordinator closed the program by giving a remarkable
closing message to advise everyone that preparing and eating healthy foods is a
must. She also reiterated that the health of our learners reflects not only the
whole school but the whole community where they reside as well.
