LONE GOLD FOR PASAY CITY: ULBATA WINS BIG IN 2020 NSPC

Fritz Nicolai B. Ulbata, a TPES grade six campus journalist, won 1st place in the Copy Reading and Headline Writing category in the recently concluded 2020 National Schools Press Conference with the theme “Empowering Communities through Campus Journalism” held on March 19-13 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Ulbata bested 54 contestants from 17 Regions all over the country. These are the top 3 winners who where proclaimed as best copy readers and writers in each region Luzon Visayas and Mindanao.

In an interview, Fritz said that the competition was unforgettable. A lot of things were gained and meeting different people added to the factors. She considered it as an opportunity and blessing. She is grateful to the full support of her coach Lilia H. Serna, Glenda D Tabaquirao— TPES principal, Dr. Imelda V. Boquiren—EPS in English, Dr. Eduardo V. Wong— EPS in Filipino, Lovelynn J. Bacera — Public Schools Division Supervisor Cluster 3, Librado F. Torres—Chief Education Program Curriculum Implementation Division , Dr.Melody P. Cruz OIC Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Loreta B. Torrecampo— Schools Division Superintendent; and above all, to God almighty for giving her the courage and determination. She even shared her favorite quote from Albert Einstein “Never give up on what you really want to do, the person with big dreams is more powerful that one with all facts.” For her, no matter how big and hard your dream is, when you believe and work hard for it, you will succeed.

The NSPC, according to the Department of Education, is the ‘’Olympics of Campus Journalism’’. It is the highest competition for journalism for both public and private elementary and secondary schools in the country.
