Family Day is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with the important individuals in our lives whom we call family. It gives each and every member a chance to celebrate the meaning of being a family and to spend quality time by participating in some of the fun-filled activities together. This event happens once a year and has gained special importance in the lives of our kindergarten pupils and provides hope in a community where families are the core fundamental pillars of our society.
It’s hard to capture what went on last Saturday, February 9, 2019, so let me share some of the highlights that happened that day. We started it with the usual preliminaries; such as singing the National Anthem, Doxology and Pasay Hymn thru video presentation and it was followed by the opening remarks of our Principal. The whole kindergarten community was divided into four colored teams – Yellow, Green, Pink and Red. Each team presented a yell and a dance number that even though simple, it was lively, fun, and was evidently enjoyed by the pupils. You can even see the joy in the eyes of their Moms and Dads and feel their pride as they witness their child’s performance. Duck walk relay, Meron o Wala (kids and parents edition), Alphabet relay and Bring Me games were also part of the program. It was a time where you can see the pupils and their parents’ bond thru these games. You can see them laugh, talk to each other, cheer them on and actively participate in each game. Families also share a communal potluck style lunch that was enjoyed by everyone including the teachers.
We shouldn’t always make an event that solely focus on individual competition. Family Day is one of the events that we should always have. As this year’s Family day ended, families returned to their homes tired but very happy to have had the opportunity to spend a special day together, where you can see them make memories and get closer to each other. It made us proud and realized that all the sacrifices in organizing this event are all worth it.
