To give parents and learners a head start in the Education’s New Normal and in line with the Department of Education (DepEd) thrust which underscores the important role of parents and guardians in making sure that the learning of their children will continue amid expected disruptions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Timoteo Paez Elementary School had come up with Virtual Parent Orientation per Grade level.
Grade Three held its on-line orientation last August 26, spearheaded by TPES school head Mrs. Glenda D. Tabaquirao, Mrs. Jessica L. Madronio, Master Teacher-in-Charge and the rest of the Grade Three teachers. The two-session orientation was attended by over 300 parents and guardians via Google Meet. (125 in the morning session, and 193 in the afternoon session).
The program started with the singing of the national anthem followed by a prayer and Pasay Hymn through video presentation. Mrs. Gilvie B. Sulayao and Mrs. Angely Bigan, hosted the program for the morning and afternoon session, respectively. Mrs. Tabaquirao delivered a welcoming message by encouraging parents to have a positive mindset toward the new normal. Mrs. Madronio presented the roster of Grade Three teachers for this school year, introducing each teacher with their profile. Realizing the importance of mental health awareness for children especially this time of pandemic, TPES school nurse, Mrs. Joan Kathlyn Fronda, shared with the participants support systems concerning mental health of children. Mrs. Bigan and Mrs. Sulayao left the participants in awe as they rendered their virtual duet performance. Mrs. Tabaquirao explained the School Learning Continuity Plan, an educational roadmap and framework that is designed to meet the challenges of the new normal in education. She mentioned that a fraction of TPES current enrollment of 4124 learners has no gadgets to be used for the new educational set up. In response to this concern, TPES came up with the project “”Lumang Cellphone Mo, Sagot sa Kinabukasan Ko”. After her talk, Mrs. Tabaquirao accommodated each parent’s question and expressed her appreciation for their participation. Mrs. Rowela R. Cadayona, Master Teacher II closed the program with her inspirational message.
This virtual orientation hopes to help parents and guardians adjust to the new educational set-up and realize how big of a role they are going to play in their children’s education during this time of pandemic. TPES assures parents that it is continuously seeking and providing means to address the demands and challenges of the New Normal.
