Timoteo Paez Elementary School celebrated the annual Nutrition Month spearheaded by Mrs. Glenda D. Tabaquirao, school principal. The celebration aimed to spread the message about proper nutrition among the learners. This year’s theme: “UGALIING MAGTANIM, SAPAT NA NUTRITION AANIHIN” focused on the importance of planting.
To show our pupils the right attitude towards good health and eating habits, TPES conducted different activities in every grade level such as: A-1 Child for Kindergarten; Headdress Contest for Kindergarten- Grade three ; Slogan Contest and Poster Making Contest for Grade four to Six; Jingle Rap for Grade three to Six and lastly Cooking Contest -Cold Meals for Kindergarten to Grade Three, One Dish Meal for Grade Four to Six.
This year, the cooking contest became more interesting because it was the first time that every grade level has their participants (parent and child tandem). The Judges found it difficult to decide because according to them all foods/outputs were delicious creative and nutritious. Meals were judged according to affordability, equality of taste and originality.
The celebration concluded with a culminating program on July 31, 2018. Parents of our pupils were invited to witness the program. Ms. Bianca Camille Peñaflor, the school nurse, took the chance to share some tips and ideas to pupils and parents on how to become healthy and the right food to eat. Mrs. Adalia A. Gaila, School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) focal person, presented and explained the criteria and mechanics of all the contest. It was followed by Mrs. Diana B. Quitay, H.E. Coordinator, who presented all the judges in different categories . It was immediately proceeded by the different presentations given by each grade level from Kindergarten to Grade 6. In between the presentation is the awarding of winners. Medals, certificates and ribbons were awarded to all the winners.
The program ended with a big smile on everyone’s faces.
