Timoteo Paez Elementary School recently concluded its National Reading Month celebration with a program themed “Bridges of Understanding: Reading for Empathy, Critical Thinking, and Lifelong Learning.” The event drew active participation from students spanning Kinder to Grade 6, along with teachers and parents. Dr. Jeanne C. Rejuso emphasized the vital role of reading, aligning her message with the celebration’s core theme. Adding to the event’s highlights were storytelling sessions led by reading ambassadors Mr. Melvin Evardone and Dr. Franco Gabriel Gopole. Their narratives imparted valuable lessons, promoting social and emotional learning among the students. The Philippine Air Force made a generous contribution, donating books and vitamins to support the students’ health and enrich their reading resources. In a move to further cultivate a reading culture, the school inaugurated its Reading Hut—a dedicated space designed to cater to students’ eagerness for reading and learning, offering a haven for exploration and discovery through literature. The celebration was deemed a resounding success, successfully fostering a love for reading while underscoring the significance of empathy, critical thinking, and lifelong learning among the students.
