Every school year, Timoteo Paez Elementary School welcomes the newly-hired teachers through the official designation of the Division of Pasay City. However, to provide support and assistance to these new staff, the school conducted a training program to these teachers specifically those who are three years and below in the service of teaching.

The training was based from the module which is composed of 11 sections. Each section has corresponding topic tasked among the master teachers as speakers delivering their field of expertise.

The first-day training commenced through the message of the school principal, Mrs. Glenda D. Tabaquirao providing the teacher-participants the knowledge regarding what they may learn and what they would expect from the two-day sessions.

On the talk delivered by Dr. Azucena L. Evardone, Public School District Supervisor of cluster 3, she stressed out that induction program is designed to assist teachers in adapting to a new workplace. She has inspired the teachers by her words of motivation and shared pieces of advice that the new teachers can learn from.

The first topic was conveyed by Mrs. Rowela R. Cadayona, Master Teacher II. She explained the DepEd Mandate, Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Strategic Directions. This topic made the participants realize how they should go along with the ideals of the institution and how they envision learning among pupils.   While, Mrs. Sailey R. Magallano, Master Teacher II, discussed organizational structure and school processes.

As veterans in the field of teaching, Mrs. Adalia A. Gaila, Master Teacher I, and Mrs. Eufemia O. Estopin, Master Teacher I, equally shared their proficiency as they talked a discourse about teaching as a profession and vocation. The topic has become a leap of their true experience in the teaching profession which stirred the participants’ minds and hearts.

Meanwhile, another two salient domains in the educational system are the Philippine Professional Standards for Professional Teachers (PPST) and the Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS).  The school principal, Mrs. Glenda D. Tabaquirao, significantly presented these topics with ease. She managed to carry out the objectives of the session with full enthusiasm which caught active participation among the participants.

Ms. Yolanda A. Banog and Mrs. Jessica L. Madronio, both Master Teachers I, tied up together coming up with a thorough discussion on career path within the DepEd. Mrs. Madronio, on one hand, extensively talked about road mapping which serves as career stages and the assessment of personal teaching experiences. On the other hand, Ms. Banog provided interactive games integrating technology as part of the learning assessment.

The second-day session had been taken to a much higher level of energy as this was filled with the energetic speakers.

The significance of Magna Carta for Public School Teachers was highlighted by the collective efforts of Mr. Elijio A. Banog, Master Teacher II, and Mr. Antonio J. Rafael, Master Teacher I. They put emphasis to this Act to promote and improve the social and economic status of public school teachers.

Also, another two great experts in teaching explicitly nourished the ideals of the teachers as they explained the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers. Mr. Renato U. Polo, Master Teacher II, and Mrs. Aurora B. Banog, Master Teacher I, correspondingly set their competence in upholding the dignity of the teaching profession during the discussion.

Lastly, Ms. Rosemarie J. Fariñas, Master Teacher I, provided a knowledge on the existing laws on salaries, wages, benefits, and recognition for teachers as an integral privilege in the teaching profession.

Every after the discussion, the speakers allow the participants to reflect and think over these principles and allow themselves to share and talk before their co-participants about their experiences and real encounter with the learners and the system. Speakers have provided ample group tasks and collaborative activities to effect positive results to all the participants.

Teaching goes beyond understanding learners, classes and curriculum that is why developing a solid teacher induction program can ease the transition for new staff, giving them the time, support, and relationships they need to thrive.

The two-day sessions ended with an impression shared by a newly-hired teacher, Ms. Jona Marie Manlongat while the school principal laid down to the new teachers the true challenge of the profession. Also, participants completed the said activity with the awarding of certificate.
