Kindergarten Teachers Hold Parents’ Effectiveness Seminar

The Kindergarten Teachers spear headed by their Master Teacher Mrs. Rowela R. Cadayona MTII organized a half day seminar for their learners’ parents. With the commitment of helping the parents to further understand their children’s behavior, the “Parents’ Effectiveness Seminar” was held last July 22, 2017, Saturday at the School Covered Court. The said seminar was attended by parents from 22 sections of Kindergarten. Present at the said event were Mrs. Glenda D. Tabaquirao, School Principal who gave the welcome remarks and Dr. Azucena L. Evardone, In-charge of Kindergarten Program, who then gave an inspirational message.
Mrs. Rowela R. Cadayona gave an overview of the seminar. She also gave the specific objectives and provided points to level off the expectations of the participants.
Various lectures were presented by Kindergarten teachers. Mrs. Lea M. Talaue, one of the pioneer teachers of Kinder discussed about the Developmental Milestone of a Child. In this topic, the parents may learn if their children are on-track of the stages of childhood development and important milestones from birth to 5 years. Thus, helping them to recognize and identify potential developmental delays or concerns. The second topic was “Understanding Language and Development in Preschoolers” by Mrs. Mercury A. Gonzales, Kindergarten Coordinator. This topic aims to help understand the close link between learning to talk and learning to read and its’ importance in children’s intellectual development.
Mrs. Diana B. Quitay, Kindergarten Grade Leader, also presented the topic “Early Reading and Writing Development”. Emphasizing that one of the best indicators for early literacy is seeing how well a child writes. Early reading and writing skills go together, thus creating better learners. Followed by Mrs. Jenny Lou M. Lopez’s presentation of the poem Just Playing by Anita Wadley, to whom nicely explains just what young children are doing everyday when they are at Preschool. The said poem also sums up why play is so important and how much learning is going on a youngster’s developing mind. Lastly, Parenting was clearly defined and discussed by Mrs. Ma. Theresa V. Bocabel.
The half day-seminar was moderated by Ms.Shiela M. Mortera, one of the Kindergarten Teachers. And later followed by Grade One Teachers who also conducted Parenting Seminar on their pupils’ parents.
